Some interesting stats but...

I just saw this video from the Economist on Thomas Crampton's blog. The visually impressive animated Flash graphics are accompanied by a rather hypnotic soundtrack and lots of dramatic statistics about the growth of the Internet and mobile phones and the decline of traditional media.  It is reminiscent of Michael Wesch's "Web 2.0 .. The Machine is Us/ing Us" which he produced nearly 3 years ago and which has had over 10 miilion views on YouTube.  The Economist video made to promote their Media Convergence Forum in New York later this month is worth watching but a bit less emphasis on the numbers (we all know mobile phones are pervasive and newspapers are disappearing) and a little more analysis of the changes would have made it more interesting.
